Rise Up and Walk: The Calling I Never Expected

There are moments in life when you look back and finally see the thread, the quiet, steady, relentless thread of God’s hand weaving through every chapter, every wound, every breath. For years, I lived inside the story without understanding it. I survived the trauma, endured the storms, carried the scars, and wrote the books, but I did not yet see the calling.

Not clearly. Not fully. Not the way I see it now.

Rise Up and Walk is not just another book. It is the revelation of why God carried me through the fire in the first place.

The First Revelation: Restoration; We Will Stone Him

When I wrote We Will Stone Him, I was still bleeding. I was still the coming from the perspective of a child standing in the rubble of generational abuse, trying to understand why the people meant to protect me became the ones who harmed me. I wrote from the ground, from the mat, from the place where trauma tried to bury me.

I did not know it then, but God was restoring me even as I wrote. Scripture says: “He lifted me out of the pit of destruction… and set my feet upon a rock.” Psalm 40:2 That is what We Will Stone Him was: God lifting me out. God naming the pit. God beginning the rescue. I thought I was writing a confession. But God was writing restoration.

The Second Revelation: Renewal; The Beast Within

By the time I started writing The Beast Within, the battle had shifted. The danger was no longer outside me; it was inside. The residue of trauma. The anger. The fear. The survival instincts that once kept me alive but now kept me imprisoned. Renewal is not gentle. Renewal is not cosmetic. Renewal is not comfortable. Renewal is war.

Scripture says: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.” Ezekiel 36:26 That is what God did. He tore down the lies trauma taught me. He dismantled the beast that lived inside my chest. He rebuilt the man I was always meant to be. I thought I was writing about inner conflict. But God was writing renewal.

The Third Revelation: Calling; A Life Well Lived

When I wrote A Life Well Lived, something shifted. Something opened. Something awakened. For the first time, I saw my story not as a burden, but as a calling. Scripture says: “Comfort others with the comfort you have received.” 2 Corinthians 1:4

My healing was never meant to stay private. My restoration was never meant to be silent. My renewal was never meant to be hidden. God was preparing me, slowly, painfully, faithfully, to become a voice for the wounded, a guide for the broken, a witness for the silenced. I thought I was writing a reflection. But God was writing calling.

The Final Revelation: Legacy; Rise Up and Walk

And now this book. Rise Up and Walk is the moment everything becomes clear. This book is not about trauma. It is about transformation. It is about obedience. It is about movement. It is about legacy. It is about the moment God looked at the man who had been lying on the ground for thirty‑eight years and said:“Rise, take up your mat, and walk.” John 5:8

That command is not ancient. It is not historical. It is not distant. It is mine. It is yours. It is every survivor’s. God told me to rise. God told me to walk. God told me to carry the mat that once carried me, not as shame, but as testimony.

And now I understand why.

My Calling: Survivor Advocacy

Survivor advocacy is not a title. It is not a platform. It is not a brand. It is a vow.

A vow to speak truth where silence once ruled. A vow to protect those who cannot protect themselves. A vow to interrupt generational trauma with generational healing. A vow to stand between the wounded and the world that hurt them. A vow to be the man I needed when I was a child.

Scripture says: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” Proverbs 31:8 That is my calling. That is my mission. That is the reason God kept me alive. My story is no longer just my story. It is a lifeline for others. It is a map for the broken. It is a witness to the God who restores, renews, calls, and establishes legacy.

Why Rise Up and Walk Matters

This book is the culmination of everything God has done in me:

• Restoration — God pulled me out of the pit.

• Renewal — God rebuilt what trauma destroyed.

• Calling — God sent me back for others still trapped.

• Legacy — God is using my obedience to change generations.

Rise Up and Walk is not a book about my past. It is a book about your future. It is a book for every survivor who still believes they are trapped in the story they were born into. It is a book for every person who has ever wondered if healing is possible. It is a book for every heart that has been crushed under the weight of generational pain.

It is a book for the afflicted, because I was one of them, and God raised me to help raise them too.

The Journey Ahead

I am not the child of We Will Stone Him anymore. I am not the young man wrestling The Beast Within anymore. I am the man of A Life Well Lived, and now, the man God has called to help others rise.

This is my revelation. This is my calling. This is my legacy.
